Liver Spots Causes

Question by Jim: What is good to get rid of sun damaged skin?
Is there anything I can use, such as cream or oil, to remove little brown spots caused by over exposure to the sun? I have heard them referred to as sun spots, liver spots, sun freckles, and age spots. I am not sure what the medical term for them is, but they are caused by damage to the skin from ultraviolet rays. A friend of mine said she went to a doctor that said this is a condition known as hyperpigmentation (not really sure if that is the right name) and the only way to remove them is through laser treatments. I’d like to know if anyone here is aware of this problem and has found anything that works without a medical treatments.

Serums work try looking in to Sephora, Arbonne, or Estee Lauder or clinique for a serum that helps this issue or see a dermatologist.

If you’re just concerned about the superficial sun damage, the freckles, the different pigmentation changes, there is a topical medication called Retin-A which does clinically reverse the actual sun damage, and it’s the only proven common popular cream that does it. It’s available by prescription and it reverses sun damage to a certain degree. Retin-A is a great place to start, but you should use it at night, because if you go out in the sun with Retin-A on your face, it does sensitize your skin, and you will burn.

I’ve also heard of people using chemical peels, (not sure of success rate) and also something called SilkPeel. Feel free to look it up as I’m kinda busy!

Your ‘friend’ is right in that without exposure to the sun, hyperpigmentation is usually harmless however, when your spots are due to over-exposure or exposure without protection, you should for safety’s sake have a skin cancer screening.

You may want to give skin whitening/brightening cream a try. Look for skin brightening/whitening cream that contains the ingredients kojic acid and Arbutin. These two natural ingredients have been proven to be very effective and safe at lightening the skin and fading away the dark spots caused by hyperpigmentation, age spots, sun spots.

I’ve heard many people gotten great results from using skin brightening/whitening cream to fade away the dark spots and get more even skin tone. But you have to be patience since it may take weeks to months to see results. By the way, do not use skin bleaching products with hydroquinone as this chemical is known to cause skin irritation and other skin probs.
