Question by rekareka: What causes discoloration of the skin?
I’m 27 years old and after a stressful week of teaching, I looked down at my hands last tuesday and noticed a sprinkle of dark brown freckles on my hands around where the index finger and the thumb connects. They look a bit like premature age spots, but I have no idea where they could be coming from? Was it something I ate? stress? sun damage?

Most likely sun damage. There hasn’t really been any correlation between stress and physical deformities except occurances of sickness. Accumulation of melatonin usually is activated by the presence of excessive amounts of UV radiation, which can occur from “Natural Light” light bulbs, tanning salons, and well… The Sun.
