Question by : How do I get a really good tan from the sun?
How much sun tanning a day would I need to get a really good tan?
Okay so I’m 14. I have a little bit of a tan, I wouldn’t say I have fair skin more medium based, so yeah, i’m a little bit tanned. I wear makeup so I don’t really need a tan on my face. I live in Australia, so its normally always hot here and it’s summer atm. I tan outside NOT tanning booths and I don’t want to use tanning lotions. I have Reef tanning oil, it works okay. I don’t really sunburn too much and if I do, it mostly turns tan. Also please don’t mention “Your going to get old and wrinkly without sunscreen!” “You’ll get skin cancer” etc. I understand that ! I WILL wear sunscreen where needed! so please stop saying this, I live in Australia! one of the most hottest countries in the world, I understand the consiquences!
Anyways, thank you so much!
I’m looking for best answer and the question is basically:
How much sun tanning a day would I need to get a really good tan?
or How can I get a really good tan from sun tanning outside?
Thank you !

Answer by e-grl19 I went tanning outside all the time when I was younger and I went 30 minutes on the front and 30 minutes on my back and it takes longer to tan outside then in the tanning place. It will take about a week to get a nice tan if you go every day. If you want it faster you should get a really good lotion. I get mine from www.lotionsource.com they have really strong lotions for a lot cheaper price then at the salon. They have a clearance section and i got a really good tanning lotion from there for about 8 dollars. If you don’t have a good lotion or want to use your oil go for about an hour on your front and an hour on your back. Also the best time to go tanning is when there are no clouds covering the sun because if the clouds are covering the sun they you will be just laying there for no reason. And go tanning from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. because after 3 the sun is not that strong so you won’t get that tan.

Despite all the noise surrounding skin cancer, dermatologists are certainly not all that concerned to see potential skin cancer patients when they have botox patients at the ready. It appears that dermatologists are not as concerned about potential skin cancers as citizens are who are habitually told to avoid the sun in order to avoid skin cancer or potential skin cancer. Why does the near hysteria surrounding sun avoidance continue? Video Rating: 5 / 5

Question by Nelly: How long should I tan for?
BEFORE YOU READ THIS, I AM FULLY AWARE OF THE RISKS OF SKIN CANCER. MY QUESTION IS NOT “WILL I GET SKIN CANCER” SO DON’T LECTURE ME ABOUT HOW IT’S UNSAFE. I APPRECIATE YOUR CARNESS BUT I DON’T WANT ANY ANSWERS LECTURING ME ABOUT SKIN CANCER.
Alright. So I have pale skin and I started tanning yesterday. I’m 13 and I know you’re thinking i’m too young but I moniter my tanning very closely. my mom is a nurse and knows all about the effects and everything so trust me, I won’t tan so much that I look black and fake. Anyways, I am tanning everyday for 4 days JUST TO GET STARTED.
I went
Yesterday: 4 min.
Today: 5 min.
and I want to continue like this
Monday: 5 min.
Tuesday: 6 min.
after this, I will slow down to 1 or 2 times a week until it’s warm enough for me to lay out. Then I won’t tan in the summer at all. how long and often should I go for to achieve and keep a nice warm (non fake looking) tan? And when fall and winter come, how long & often should i go? thanks!
ummm I’m tanning in a tanning bed. haha, not in the sun…..

Question by Rachel!: Which season is the sun its strongest in Michigan?
I know that question is worded awkwardly, but what I mean to ask is more so, when am I more likely to get a stronger sun burn as well? There have been times where I’ve laid out in the spring and gotten the worst burn all season. I know that it could just be the first time I was really exposing myself, but, my mom used to tell me it was stronger in the spring and I was wondering if that’s true, or what factors go into this? *don’t worry, I almost always wear sunblock, I’m not trying to get melanoma”
Thank you!

Answer by Cindy Definitely summer! That’s when Michigan is closest to the sun. I’d probably put it around the summer solstice, June 21.
You are just more vulnerable in the spring because you haven’t built up a tan yet. Also, if there is a wind the sun can be very strong but you don’t notice because you are not that hot.

Question by Kristi: What is a safe website to buy genuine tanning lotions from?
I tried asking this question in a “tanning forum,” but they are pro-salon and wont allow anyone to talk about online lotion buying. Great.
The prices at the salon are outrageous. Yeah, I realize that they need to cover the cost of the machines, rent, etc…but I want a quality lotion, and I don’t want to be ripped off. I already pay $ 80 a month to tan there, for Pete’s sake. I’m not going to pay another $ 120 for an 8oz bottle of lotion.
The girls at the salon preach that online lotion stores water their lotions down, or that they’re not the genuine product…but many sites I’ve looked at claim they offer products that are genuine and manufactured by their respective companies – for 50% of the price that salons charge.
Do any of you have experience shopping at an online lotion store that sells genuine products for a reasonable price? I already have a favorite brand, so I don’t need any advice on which lotion to buy, I just need a respectable site to buy from.
(** Save the “you’re going to die from skin cancer” remarks. I’ve been tanning indoors for 9 years (I’m 26). I NEVER burn my skin. I don’t take it to the extreme. I don’t look like an Oompa Loompa. I don’t even look all that “tan.” I simply don’t look “pale.” I get checked for any suspicious moles or freckles by my dermatologist every 2 months. I have never had any suspicious moles or freckles. In fact, she compliments me every time on how great my skin looks and how it’s nice to see someone being responsible when it comes to their skin. I live a very healthy lifestyle which includes wearing sunscreen outdoors. Please do not chastise me for my choices simply because you do not agree with them. That isn’t what this question is about. Thank you. **)
note: I cannot buy lotions directly from the distributors because they only sell to salon owners.
