That is the stupidest question I’ve ever read on here and it reads like it’s been written by a six year old.

*UPDATE* If the “dissing whites” point was directed at me, my opinion did not come from a ‘pro-white’ viewpoint (which incidentally is highly offensive to me). It was more the fact that it’s dangerous to actively want to darken your skin without protection (or even with protection) regardless of skin tone. I understood the question but it was worded very naively for such a serious issue. Nothing personal.

  9. Tim says:

yes she is right to some degree if u tan too much all in one day yes u can get that but if u tan for a little while for a day then like 2 days later tan for a little longer than no u wont get it

  10. kharilli says:

Yeah, anyone can get skin cancer really. It’s just darker skin don’t burn as fast because of the melanin. Just make sure to put your sunblock on don’t stay out in the sun too long and it should be fine..everything in moderation..good luck.

  11. blah blah blah today life sucked says:

Your mother is 100% correct. You can get malenoma. I think you should be happy with the skin color God gave you. Black is beautiful in any shade. You shouldn’t go trying to change something as drastic as your skin color. It’s very unnatural. I think you should just accept yourself for who you are. God Bless.

  12. dags says:

    Hi ebony,

How lovely to see someone that is proud to be coloured. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be of course, but I seldom hear people saying it.

Be careful of the sunburn, here in Oz it’s a big deal, and melanoma is a huge problem.

    Slip Slap Slop

    Slip on a shirt
    Slap on a hat
    Slop on some suncream

    Good on ya!

Pinky [ me coloured too!] and proud of it.

  13. bobbins says:

lol at ‘and i was like nah unh’ hahaha. you are at risk of getting melanoma. you should always listen to your mum.

  14. Loose Wheel says:

I notice that someone suggested using sun block, but you won’t tan if you do. I don’t know how dark you can safely get, as it depends on what shade you are now. Just do it gradually and you should be fine.

  15. kmilla says:

They say tanning is bad for everyone (African-Americans too) even though we have more melanin (pigment) in our skin than other races, which gives more protection from the sun. I’m light skinned, and have always wanted at least a caramel complexion. They have tanning lotions that optimize the darkness of your tan (Banana Boat, etc) but, be careful. You can get skin cancer. But if you must, I noticed my tans are darker if I tan in the water (swimming) I don’t know how but it just does. I understand from one paleface to another. Try the suntan lotion, then maybe some of the lotion you rub on that tans in two hours? Whatever you find, if it works, tell me.

  16. discover_every_inch says:

i agree, this question is ridiculous.

  17. R. H. Wesson says:

    yes, you can get melanoma.
It’s operable though, and not all that likely.

Sorry to bother you here, but you don’t allow e-mail.

I’m a bit insulted that you told me to “grow some balls and say what I mean” when you answered my question on class. I said what I meant. I was not trying to blame anyone nor was I being at all underhanded. You insulted me for no reason and I would very much like an apology.
    no hard feelings,
    R. H. Wesson.
