Question by : pathological liar of a friend… weird story. how do i confront her?
okay here is this random story…
i have this friend we shall call J.
we were bff’s from around last august to this past may when she told me i was a waste of life and that SHE hindered my potential to do well in life. she gets a 4.0 gpa and had a 2200 on her sat’s so how she hindered me is a mystery.
so after a while i got sick of her crap and branched out and now have 3 bff’s and she is not one of them. my friends hate her and im not that big of a fan of her but sometimes a still hang out with her and i do not partake in any “J” bashing.
today though i will start. first off. when she was in middle school she lied about having lukemia.
this past year, our junior year, she claimed cancer yet again. no one knows whether we were to believe it or not but since she missed a lot of school we just went along with it. she never went to chemo just had biopsies on her “skin cancer”
she has been complaining to me for a while about her lonliness and how she recently hooked up with her past boyfriend and was ashamed.
we also never believed this boyfriend was real because
1. she could never get her stories straight about him
2. she said he hit her a lot.
3. he went to a different school in a different county and know one i knew that went there had ever heard of him.
so today one of my friends did some facebook stalking and found another guy with the EXACT same picture as J’s fake bf.
after she knew we found this she immediately deleted her facebook and her supposed boyfriends (fake.)
so now i need to know how i go about confronting her with this.
she obviously has some issues.
what do i do?

    Damn!
If I were you, I’d stay clear or her and not talk to her.
She sounds crazy, wouldn’t want any of that near me.

  2. Kris C says:

Why confront? They are her issues not yours. Ignore her.

Well pathological liars have something missing in their life. I had a friend who is one. Her Mother left her as a child. Pathological liars tell lies to get attention. So something obviously happened to J to make her act this way. Honestly if you tell her you know her boyfriends are fake she will lie. I would just tell her that you are there for her and she can tell you anything. Tell her that you aren’t going to judge her. Tell her in a nice way that people dont like her constant lying. Maybe once she realizes people dont believe her lies she will be more truthful.

  4. lkirchy says:

There is no need to confront her, you two aren’t friends anymore.

  5. Anya G says:

she sounds like she needs help… maybe it’s her parents you want to talk to.
she lies obviously, and she lies because she needs validation. she wants to be this person she created – someone who has a vast social life, a boyfriend, someone who’s successful in school. someone who is a leader. she wants her life to be Lifetime dramatic – with battling cancer and surviving and making people worry about her and show their concern.
she needs attention that she probably never got from parents or friends, and she doesn’t want to create anything real worthy of attention so she comes up with random stories off the wall. she probably doesn’t even realize what she is doing.
if you still care about her, talk to her parents because they might not know.
if you don’t then just stay away.
